Hardeman County Schools to Open 2024/2025 Pre-K Registration in April

Children can benefit from the experience of Pre-K and gain pre-readiness skills that could lead to a successful kindergarten school year.

Hardeman County parents with children who will be four years old on or before Thursday, August 15, 2024, may register their child for Pre-K starting Monday, April 15, 2024, for the 2024/2025 school year. Although Pre-K is not required, children can benefit from the experience and gain pre-readiness skills that could lead to a successful kindergarten school year.

“Attending Pre-K allows children the opportunity to gain pre-readiness skills in the areas of math, science, literacy, and social emotional development,” said Dr. Monica Shaw, Assistant Director of Teaching & Learning Pre-K -5 with the Hardeman County School Board. “It promotes a smooth transition from home to school and equips young children with the social skills necessary to promote position interactions with others while building their imagination skills for growth and development.”

Pre-K enrollment applications will be available on April 15 at all county elementary schools from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Parents are encouraged to visit their zoned school by Friday, May 3, 2024, which is the deadline for registering at those schools. After May 3, registration will move to the Hardeman County Board of Education office located at 10815 Old Highway 64, Bolivar, 38008.

Parents must bring the following documents for registration:

· Certified birth certificate

· Social Security card

· Immunization record and physical

· Two proofs of residence

· Proof of income

Families will receive notifications of their Pre-K child’s eligibility status once applications are submitted and reviewed. Please contact Dr. Shaw at (731) 658-2510 or e-mail her at mshaw@hcsedu.org with any questions or concerns.
