Middleton Library Announces Summer Reading Program Winners

The Middleton Library recently concluded its annual Summer Reading Program after four weeks of educational activities, special guests, and recognition for young readers throughout the month of June.
The program was held every Thursday in June and offered participants a variety of hands-on learning experiences designed to encourage reading while making learning fun.
The summer program kicked off with a visit from representatives of Chickasaw State Park, who introduced children to several animal friends. Participants also welcomed Honorable Judge Harriet Thompson, who joined the opening day’s activities.
During the second week, Pinson Mounds State Park visited the library, sharing information about local archaeology and displaying archaeological findings from the area.
The third week featured a dinosaur-themed STEM class led by Kasi Jones. Children had the opportunity to explore fossils using microscopes and examine actual fossils as part of the interactive lesson.
The program concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing the library’s top readers. Participants who turned in their reading logs received prizes, while the top readers in each age group were presented with special awards for their accomplishments.

The celebration also included the burial of a time capsule, giving participants a chance to leave a lasting memory of this year’s program.
