Petitions Picked Up for Assessor of Property and School Board Positions

Residents of Hardeman County will soon have the opportunity to select a new assessor of property and three new school board members, if they vote in the August 1, 2024, election.

The first day potential candidates could pick up a petition was October 16, 2023, and the qualifying deadline is December 14, 2023, at noon.

As of Monday afternoon, one petition for Assessor of Property had been picked up by Democratic incumbent, Josh Pulse.

Four people have picked up petitions for School Board:

Independent candidate Johnny Davis picked up a petition for School Board District 2, Position 2. The position is currently held by Beverly Bodiford.

Independent candidates Stacey Swift and Steven Gibson both picked up a petition for School Board District 3, Position 3. The position is currently held by Terry King.

Democratic candidate Anthony Ford picked up a petition for School Board District 3, Position 1. The position is currently held by Jerry Crisp.

Anyone interested in qualifying to be on the ballot must be a resident of the district, must pick up a petition from the Hardeman County Election Commission, and get 25 signatures from registered voters in their district. Petitions must be turned in by noon (12 p.m. CST) on Thursday, December 14, 2023. The full list of requirements to qualify is available at the Hardeman County Election Commission Office, 106 South Porter Street, in Bolivar.

A primary election for Republican and Democrat candidates will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, before the County General and State Primary election on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
