Bolivar Fire Department Recognized by State Fire Marshall

The Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office celebrated the tenth anniversary of the “Get Alarmed, Tennessee!” program by honoring its partners across the state.

The Bolivar Fire Department was recognized as one of the top 10 smoke alarm installers in 10 years of “Get Alarmed, Tennessee!” Since enrolling in the program, the Bolivar Fire Department has installed 2,945 smoke alarms.

“Working smoke alarms save lives. It has been proven across the state and within our own fire district. We are proud to partner with the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office in this lifesaving program,” said Bolivar Fire Chief Price, “Being a community fire department is about so much more than fighting fires. It is about fire safety education, prevention, and giving our residents the best possible chance of survival in the event they have a fire.”

Launched in November 2012, “Get Alarmed” is a grant-funded fire safety education and smoke alarm installation program administered by the Tennessee State Fire Marshall Office. The program distributes fire safety education and 10-year sealed battery smoke alarms to participating fire departments. Fire departments and volunteering organizations then deliver the educational materials and install smoke alarms in at-risk homes across the state. Since the inception of the program, over 254,000 smoke alarms have been distributed through the participation of 555 fire departments. To date, 335 people have been alerted by smoke alarms installed through this program.
