YEP Returns for its 14th Year

By: Hannah Thompson
Youth Evangelism Projects, affectionately known as YEP, is a four-day church camp where students in grades 6–12 serve communities throughout Hardeman County while sharing the love of Christ through acts of service. Each morning begins with breakfast and prayer before campers head out to serve others by washing cars free of charge, picking up litter, cleaning homes for those in need, preparing meals for a free community cookout, and participating in a variety of other outreach projects.

“The overall mission and vision of YEP is to give youth an opportunity to serve others in the name of Jesus and to bless Hardeman County,” shared Dixie Hills pastor, Jimmy Garrett.

Along with Dixie Hills, other participating churches include First Baptist Church of Bolivar, Hornsby Baptist, Parrans Chapel, and Porters Creek. This year, there are 58 campers and 35 volunteers participating in the projects.

Throughout the past few years of YEP, Pastor Garrett has seen many people get saved and surrender to the ministry. Pastor Garrett has high hopes for the 14th year of YEP. “I hope every camper has a spiritual growth spurt this week, I hope they create some good memories, make new friends, and gain confidence in their walk with the Lord.”

Pastor Garrett also hopes that parents will continue to foster the spiritual growth of their children after camp ends by being involved in a local church, reading the Bible, and praying together as a family.
