Catching Up On Middleton High School News

By Kayleigh Maxwell, Hatchie Press Middleton High School Student Reporter

The basketball teams have started their seasons off with a bang! Both the middle and high school teams won their first home games and are pushing through their others. The Middleton High School (MHS) Tigers basketball team is on a winning streak and at reporting time, the MHS Lady Tigers had only lost one of the four games they have played. Both teams played against H.W. Byers on Friday, December 2, 2022, and the next home game will be on Friday, December 9, 2022, against Fayette Ware at 6 p.m. We ask all of you to come and support our Middleton Tigers in the approaching games. Go Tigers!

The kids of MHS are swarming the halls once again after our short but rewarding Thanksgiving break; however, the Beta Club students are just getting started. During the week of November 28 – 30, 2022, the members of the high school Beta club traveled to Nashville, Tennessee for the annual Beta convention. This is where they go and compete in all kinds of different subjects against kids from all over the state. This convention helps students who are looking for the collegiate path to get a feel of what they might want to pursue in college. The Beta convention is a big help to kids all around the world. It helps them realize what they like doing and what they are willing to put time into. Beta is not all about school and going to college; it can be fun and can open your eyes to opportunities you did not realize were out there.

This year the Beta convention theme was “Superheroes”! This theme shines light on the fact that no matter who you are or where you came from, you are strong and capable of doing whatever you set your mind to. Just ask the kids from our MHS Beta club.

Delaney Byers, sophomore, won Second Place Recyclable Art Division 1, and shared a comment.

“I picked recyclable arts because I am a creative person and saw an opportunity to apply my creativity to something. I’m really proud of the way it turned out,” said Delaney.

A big congratulations to her and the many other students who put in the hard work for Beta convention this year.

Our Beta club will also be contributing to the coat drive for Cash Express in Bolivar, Tennessee. They ask all to help and bring as many coats for the coat drive this year. MHS would like to send a shout out to the senior Beta club administrators, Danielle Mott, Carla Doyle, and Craig Harris. We want to thank them for their hard work and guidance through these challenging and exciting years of high school Beta.

Kayleigh is a junior at Middleton High School and plans to pursue a career in writing. She enjoys reporting MHS news.
