Hardeman County Community Health Center Breaks Ground on New Women’s & Children’s Clinic

Marlita White, Chief Executive Officer of the Hardeman County Community Health Center, shares exciting information about the new Women’s & Children’s Clinic.

The Hardeman County Community Health Center (HCCHC) broke ground on a new Women’s & Children’s Clinic on Monday, July 10, 2023.

“It has been a long time coming. We have been working on this project for about two years. We have been serving this community for 31 years and are still committed to providing quality, equitable, and affordable healthcare services,” said Marlita White, Chief Executive Officer of the Hardeman County Community Health Center. “It is our hope this will be a springboard to other services that we can provide in this community be it specialty services, mental health services, whatever it may be that serves the needs of the community.”

Several Hardeman County Community Health Center board members were on hand for the ground breaking including Donna Pinner, board chairman.

“We are very excited to add this expansion to our services here in Hardeman County and it is something that is desperately needed,” said Donna Pinner who has been a board member for eight years.

The facility will be a little over 7,000 square feet and house the women and children services and behavioral health services. As a part of an established healthcare facility under the umbrella of the Federally Qualified Health Centers, the clinic will provide more focused and managed care that includes “an integrated package of essential interventions and services delivered by a functioning health system”. Since the clinic is federally funded, patients will be seen regardless of their ability to pay. The hope is to offer more thorough medical evaluations and care for its patients that surpasses what the center already provides to women and children.

“We put in place more rooms, so we could bring in staff and offer more specialty care. We hope at some point to be able to get contracts for someone to come in and provide pulmonology, endocrinology, and cardiology. Anything that we can bring as an addition to the area. Women deal with so many things when it comes to their health and the biggest thing is they can also bring their children; one stop shop. They do not have to take off from work on another day for their children to be seen. We are trying to make it more convenient”, said White who also noted the HCCHC is the only medical facility in the county that has an on staff pediatrician.

Hardeman County Community Health Center board members, employees, local officials, and contractors were present to break ground on the new facility.

“I think it is going to expand our women’s and children’s services we offer. By moving them out of this building, we can offer them additional services in the future like dental and some special services, because that is what Hardeman County really needs,” said Linda Lovelace, Financial Officer of Hardeman County Community Health Center, who has been with the clinic for 26 years. “We just want to thank Centennial Bank and the USDA for giving us the opportunity to fund this building. It is an exciting time and we are excited to see where the future goes.”

The Women’s and Children’s Clinic will be located at 629 Nuckolls Road in Bolivar. Allison Contracting Company will oversee the construction, which has already begun. The project is expected to be completed in 2024.
